2005 Altima Camshaft position sensor replacement-cylinder vs plastic

$

Service Engine Soon light is on. Engine code reads "PO340 Camshaft Position Sensor/Sensor A Circuit Bank 1 or single sensor." The defective sensor is the old type with a flat plastic body. The new, replacement sensor is the newer metal cylinder type. Can I replace just the camshaft sensor without replacing the crankshaft sensor at the back of the engine which is presumably the old plastic type? Not getting any codes on the crankshaft sensor. The latter is a major hassle to replace and I am am not eager to take on that task. I also have the option of buying the old plastic type replacement camshaft sensor. Do both camshaft and crankshaft sensors have to be the same type (i.e., both plastic or both cylindrical)?

2006 Maxima abs problem/question

My scanner says no signal from drivers side abs sensor. I can hear the abs pump humming for a few seconds after starting the car. After driving about a block or so it hums again and my slip, abs and tcs lights come on. I've changed the hub and sensor with no luck. I'm going to check the harness to the sensor to the plug under the rear axle for signal. Can anyone tell what I should be looking for signal wise? Is it a 0 to 1vdc or ac pulse? From there I'm going to check at the abs module if I can actually unplug the harness connector from the unit. Failing that I'll have change the abs module. Any help would be appreciated.

The location of the knock sensor is under the intake manifold, the intake manifold will have to be removed to access the knock sensor

You will have 2 knock sensor one for each Bank

2001 Frontier electrical power cuts out after engine warms-up

Hello,

I have a 2001 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab SC with AT, only 85k miles on it. The truck has been extremely reliable with no mechanical issues at all until recently when I suddenly have a pretty severe electrical problem.
I have been searching online forums for several days but have not found anything that matches what is happening on my truck. If anyone has experience with similar issues or has advice on how to troubleshoot/fix this problem I would REALLY appreciate it. See below for a detailed summary of the problem.

Problem statement: Loss of electrical power after engine warm-up
When problem happens/how often: First occurrence of any electrical problem was on Friday 4/8/16. The loss of electrical power has happened consistently every time the vehicle is started and run for more than 5-6 minutes.
Symptoms: Problem occurs while driving or when sitting at idle and in park.
-Engine idle drops low and engine runs rough.
-Electrical power is lost to entire instrument panel.
-Power windows do not operate.
-Turn signals do not operate.
-Transmission is stuck in high gear (no power to TCM).
-Windshield wipers do not operate.
-If engine is turned off the ignition will not work (no starter or relay clicking just silent).
-Cabin fan still functions, Radio still functions, Hazard lights still function, Headlights still function, Fuel pump still functions.
Observations/Troubleshooting: The problem happens approximately 5-6 minutes after engine has started and warmed up, this has been repeat tested several times.
-Once the engine is warm the problem happens about every 2 minutes, the power cuts out and stays off for about 75 seconds then power comes back on for about 50 seconds before cutting out again.
-This cycle of power loss repeats when sitting at idle in park or when driving, the timing is slightly altered when driving.
-A relay under the dash can be heard actuating about 5-10 seconds before power comes back on.
-The battery charge has not been affected by this problem.
-Checked fuses.
-Cleaned battery terminals.
- Swapped relays between control items with common relay parts.
Parts replaced:
• A new alternator was installed on 4/11/16.

I have an 02 qr25de I recently did a timing chain in, and headers to rid the precatalyst problem, runs good but it started idleing real low and sputtering and sputtering randomly now, and it is always blowing condensation out the exhaust. And now the temperature gauge has also started spiking for short periods of time

2016 Frontier trailer lights issue

I have a 2016 Frontier Crew Cab & when I hook up my boat trailer all lights work except the tail lights. Clearance lights, turn signals and brake lights all work fine, but when I turn on the headlights I get no tail lights on the trailer. The truck has a factory installed hitch and 7 pin wire connector. Has anyone had this problem? I should mention that my 2008 Frontier had the same issue with the trailer. The boat dealer has checked the trailer lights and all is good there.

BCM Replacement?

I have a 2008 Quest. Manufacture date 5/08. Having a lot of electrical issues such as back gate not working (just solid beep if handle depressed on outside), windows not working correctly, constant beeping at times (seems worse if raining). Talked to a few local mechanics as well as Nissan dealership and all have said it sounds like the BCM is going bad. My question is if I buy a BCM off of a wrecked Quest (which I did today) same year model and after Feb. manufacture date. Can I basically just plug and Play or does it need to be flashed? I am getting conflicting reports as to this. Just need to make sure if I go through the trouble of removing and replacing that it will still start and run as it is my only vehicle.

Thanks

Very unusual - help please

Hello. I installed a new pioneer head unit into my 2010 Sentra a couple of weeks ago. No problems. I recently decided to add an amp and sub to the car and after disconnecting the negative battery terminal, proceeded to run all required wires.

After that was done (a couple of hours) I reconnected the battery WITHOUT any of the new wiring hooked up to anything except I added a remote wire and Metra NI-12 antenna adapter. I connected the blue wire from the adapter along with the remote wire for the amp (not even out of the box yet) to the wires from the head unit and the car for 12V ACC. I turned the key and deck lit up but reception was horrible. I moved it a bit and it turned off. I disco'd negative terminal and checked connections again. Everything fine. I reconnected deck lit up then turned off. Instrument cluster lights slowly faded to dark yet odometer reading faintly visible. I did not move the ground wire from where it was when the deck worked. Since then, the instrument cluster lights ONLY light up when speedometer is >0! Deck will not turn on at all.

All fuses are fine no obvious damage smoke smell etc. The eerie thing is cluster lights on only when car is moving. No other issues with other lights etc. Check engine light came on and occasionally gave five flashes which according to research is vehicle speed sensor.

I'm completely stumped! Any ideas are GREATLY appreciated! Also, is there a way to test the head unit to see if it's fried?

Thank you in advance.

Hi there,

This indicates you will need to replace the converter. If you look at the exhaust manifold on the car, there are actually 2 converters, a bank 1 and a bank 2. This code as you know is for bank 2, but both converters are replaced together. It is possible you could have the code because of a bad O2 sensor or leaking exhaust system.

HI there,

Cleaning the maf sensor doesn't usually resolve this problem or these codes. To clean it, get some maf sensor cleaner. Follow the instructions on the can. To remove the maf sensor, you can unplug it and remove the tamper proof screws that hold just the sensor in place and pull it out. Or, remove the air fllter box and take out the 4 bolts that hold it to the box.

Hi there,

The A/F sensor is the same as an O2 sensor. It looks exactly the same, but has 6 wires instead of 4. It does more for the fuel mixture then the older O2 sensor, but in short, yes it's the front O2 sensor.

Knock/tick. HELP!!

$

2002 Altima 2.5......paid $700,runs and drives but had a knock/tick sound. Changed oil (black and thin), no change. Pulled lower oil pan and found plastic, thin metal flakes (up to 3/4" pieces) and aluminum sludge. Knew right away it needed timing componants, however, I can't figure out where the flakes came from. They seem too big for bearings, thought maybe a shim of some sort between the timing gears and covers or block, but I can't find anything on parts schematics. Anyway, New components in and the damn thing still makes the sound. I did check crank end play, but forgot to check for rod play. Anyone have any ideas other than dropping the frickin pans again and checking the rods? Did also pull coil wires to see if it made a difference to no avail.

2007 Altima 2.5 SL SPARK PLUG TUBE SEALS in most cases, the seals are NOT replaceable and a new valve cover with the seals included has to be bought and installed. Just bought new valve cover from dealer today and the cost was $54 plus tax. If you Google the subject, you can't get a clear answer on this.

2016 Fronteir Electric Trailer Brake Controller

I took a Uhaul electric trailer brake controller from my old tow vehicle and installed into a 2016 Frontier that has a factory equipped tow package. I bought a sub-harness from my Nissan dealer, and plugged that in under the dash. I made the necessary splices from the sub-harness to the Uhaul "Activator II" brake controller. There is power at the controller, but the output for the electric brakes is only 1.6 volts. Is that the correct voltage? I have seen in other forums that there may be an additional relay that needs to be installed, but that seems to be for older Frontiers, and I also looked under the hood and it seems like they are all there. Can anyone help with this?
