2005 Altima 3.5 P0420, P1273, P1283

I got a p0420 about a month ago on my 2005 ALtima, 3.5, 185000 miles. I reset the code, and it never returned. I was reading about the cats coming apart sometimes, and also the lifespan of the A/F ratio sensors, so I decided to to pull the cats off and inspect, and change the ratio sensors, and plugs while I had the plenum off. The cats didnt look bad inside, but I did see some powder come out when I turned them upside down. I decided to gut the cats, install non- fowlers on the o2's, and go from there. Also gutted the second cat while I was at it. Car is running fine, but I got the P1283 a few days ago, reset and cleared the self learn, ( I think). Didnt wait the full 10 minutes at idle though. Yesterday and today I got a P1273. Still no driveabilty issues. I have an Ultragage plugged in to the OBD port, and can read data from the sensors, but im not sure how accurate the Ultragage is because it is not a high dollar scan tool. I have not had the P0420 come up either, so apparently the non-fowlers are working on the o2 sensors.
ANy ideas?

2005 Frontier D40 Fuel Pump Repalcement

Part II in a Series (Part I- VQ40 timing chain whine)

Again, this is for all of you DYIs', just replaced the fuel pump assembly on my 2005 Frontier 4x4
LE crew cab which now has 212000 miles and is still running strong and looking great.
Replacement was treated as a maintenance item since I am still do long hauls and the original pump's remaining life was starting to scare me.

Purchased an aftermarket complete pump assembly from Amazon and watched a few How to's on You Tube (What a waste of time).

I still have the CD service manual for reference and followed the removal/Install procedure).

1. Drove until the fuel level was low (approximately 2-3 gallons in the tank).
2. Removed the gas cap, jacked up the rear as high as the jack stands could be mounted and
removed the left rear wheel.
3. Used compressed air to blow off as much debris that I could see around the fuel filler, EVAP, vent
return lines, and tank.
4. Mounted a 12"x 18" board to my floor jack using tie down straps.
5. Depressurized the fuel line per the manual.
6. For safety, kept a fire extinguisher nearby
7. Disconnected the fuel filler hose at the tank using a 10 mm wrench for the clamp.
8, Disconnected the Filler vent line by depressing the 2 tabs and gently separating the lines.
9. Disconnecting the EVAP line was the most difficult. The line is locked in on both sides with very
thin and flimsy plastic clips. These clips are available on-line for about $10 each (2 required if
you break both of them), I was able to successfully remove the clips.
10. Position the jack to the center point of the tank (you will have to guess where that is, I found
that it was towards the rear of center but if the remaining fuel shifts, this will change the center
of gravity).
11. There are 2 straps and 3 bolts supporting the tank. Socket size is 17 mm. Loosen the bolts
making sure that your jack does not interfere with the straps.
12. With the jack in place, remove the strap bolts and check for tank balance. (The tank sits in a
tunnel so it won't go anywhere until it is out of the Tunnel).
13. Slowly lower the jack a few inches until you can see the top of the tank with the remaining fuel
line and wire harness.
14. Use compressed air to blow off additional debris.
15. Disconnect the wire harness and remaining fuel line.
16. Cover/plug all of the exposed holes/lines to prevent contamination ( I used disposable nitrile
gloves and rubber plugs).
17. Lower the tank and from under the vehicle.
18. Use compressed air and clean rags to clean around the fuel pump port before removing the
pump.
19. To remove the pump, there is a large metal locking ring. If you have the spanner wrench, great.
If you do not, like me, use a brass punch or something that will not create a spark and that will
ruin your day (remember, you are dealing with a gasoline tank and fuel vapors and if you need
to take a smoke break, disregard this thread and have a shop do the work).
20. Gently tap the ring on the different lugs to unlock. (the ring does not self center so you have
work the ring off by tapping around it).
21. Once the ring is removed, gently remove the fuel pump assembly being very careful with the
fuel gauge sending unit (the float).
22. Carefully remove the old "O" ring and clean out the channel.
23. Install the new "O" ring, fuel pump assembly making sure that it is properly oriented in the right
direction.
24. Clean the locking ring and gently rotate by tapping the locking tabs (should be rotated all the
way to the stops).
25. The locking clip on the old fuel pump fitting can be easily removed and installed on the new
pump by gently lifting the tabs one at a time.
26. Reinstall the tank in the reverse order of removal.

Helpful hints:

Work outside cool and dry (My garage has a gas water heater, not good).
This Model does not have a fuel filter and getting debris into the tank is not in your best interest (keep it clean).
Lubricated the strap bolts and left the bolts loose to recenter the tank in place prior to tightening the tank down.
Although I did this myself, 2 persons would be better.
Had access to the clips and parts in the event that I broke anything.
Wore gloves and eye protection.
Fire Extinguisher on stand by.
Total time start to finish was 3 hours (and I was in no hurry) with no hiccups.

Problems with AC controls

My heater/AC has an issue. Fan only works in high speed and the AC does not work.

In the first three speeds the AC light, the Defrost light, and the Inside air light all turn on and off as they should but the fan does not blow any air at all. As soon as I turn the control the highest fan setting the lights turn off and the fan turns on. With the fan set to the highest speed it appears the heater works, but the AC does not, I do not even hear the AC kick in.

Any advice on where I should begin troubleshooting this?

Any of you had a similar issue and how did you fix it?

Thanks!

2016 Nissan Leaf with 24kW pack. Was charging fine for about 6 months. Recently stopped charging both trickle and Level 2 charger. Charge procedure will start, but stop after about 2 minutes. EVSE diagnostics indicates only very low amperage (0.5A) during this time and then turns off. Multiple chargers have been confirmed to work with other Leafs. There are no timers etc. Tried to charge the 12V battery without luck.

Note: This car is in an unsupported location and cannot be easily serviced by a trained Nissan technician.

The LeafSpy fault codes are:

I drove home from work about 45 minutes on the freeway, didn’t notice any problems. Parked for about an hour then drove another 10 minutes. When I stopped I noticed radiator fluid leaking from my car and infront was a huge splatter when out 5 feet. Looked like it had shot out the front. Replaced the radiator, system held, drove it around no leaks nothing. Next day get on the freeway back to work. Noticed the temp gauge going from normal to hot a few times, I pushed the gas pedle it went up, started losing power, by the third time I noticed the gauge go up to hot the car shut off, all the lights on the dash came on and I coasted to the side.
Got it towed home. Will not start, tries to turn over but will not. A friend said reset the computer, so I took off the battery cables and when i reconnected and tried to start it, now it only makes a clunk noise and doesn’t try to start at all. i push the button lights come one, it goes clunk and all lights go off. help...

Nissan Announces U.S. Pricing For 2018.5 Rogue Sport

Nissan announces U.S. pricing for 2018.5 Rogue Sport – Automatic Emergency Braking now standard on all models

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan today announced that the popular Rogue Sport is now available with standard Auto Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) on all 2018.5 models. The mid-year update also includes standard Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) on the Rogue Sport SL grade. ICC has also been added to the SV Technology Package. The 2018.5 Rogue Sport is available now at Nissan dealers nationwide.

Rogue Sport joins seven other 2018 Nissan models, representing more than one million sales, in offering standard Automatic Emergency Braking – Altima, LEAF, Maxima, Murano, Pathfinder, Rogue and Sentra. Automatic Emergency Braking, which can help avoid or reduce the severity of potential frontal collisions, is an element of Nissan Safety Shield technologies.

“We’re making Automatic Emergency Braking standard across all grades of our best-selling models, including the exciting and affordable Rogue Sport. It’s part of our comprehensive vision for helping reduce fatalities known as Nissan Intelligent Mobility,” said Michael Bunce, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc.

The 2018.5 Rogue Sport is offered in front-wheel and Intelligent All-Wheel Drive configurations, and in three well-equipped grade levels – S, SV and SL.

Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP)1 for the 2018.5 Nissan Rogue Sport:
  • Rogue Sport S FWD $22,110 USD
  • Rogue Sport SV FWD $23,740 USD
  • Rogue Sport SL FWD $27,190 USD
  • Rogue Sport S AWD $23,460 USD
  • Rogue Sport SV AWD $25,090 USD
  • Rogue Sport SL AWD $28,540 USD
Destination and Handling $975.

The Rogue Sport shares many of the design, utility and technology attributes that have made Rogue Nissan’s best-selling vehicle in the United States. Rogue Sport is slightly smaller, sportier and more affordable for younger, urban SUV buyers than Rogue. These buyers are looking for much more space than a compact sedan, while still seeking the maneuverability and fun-to-drive feel that Rogue Sport delivers.

As fitting of the Rogue Sport name, its fun-to-drive performance credentials are achieved by a combination of a 141-horsepower 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine, Xtronic transmission with Eco Mode switch and a 4-wheel independent suspension.

Available technology includes RearView Monitor, Siri® Eyes Free, NissanConnectSM with Navigation and Mobile Apps, 7.0-inch color touch-screen display, Nissan Voice Recognition for navigation and audio, SiriusXM® Travel Link and SiriusXM® Traffic (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately), NissanConnect Services powered by SiriusXM® (SiriusXM® subscription required, sold separately).

Other available features include Bluetooth® Hands-free Phone System, Hands-free Text Messaging Assistant, Streaming audio via Bluetooth® and Remote Engine Start2, Intelligent Around View® Monitor (I-AVM), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Intelligent Lane Intervention (I-LI).

Acceleration Problem !!! Please Help !!

Ok I'm new to the forum and new to Nissan mechanics lol it's my girlfriends van...Anywho, it's a '05 Quest and when I'm pulling off from a stop sign or light or just a dead stop, the van accelerates (pulls) fine but after several seconds it jerks or jumps forward or "into gear". Assuming this is a transmission problem I check the tranny fluid, and it's brown, so it's burnt. Thinking about flushing the tranny and replacing the filter, but after some research seems like you have to remove the tranny from the van to change the filter ?? Is this true ?

Also is there some kind of Transmission control sensor that may be bad or dirty, and causing this problem ? I seen something about a speed sensor but says something about the engine revolutions and gear shift timing, not sure if that could cause the problem though.

Another opinion assumed a bad motor mount, but that would cause the whole van to shake and vibrate.

"I am very excited to get out there and show the world what this truck can do!"

Following a day of off-roading in the Tennessee hills in a fleet of Nissan TITAN and TITAN XD PRO-4X vehicles on Friday, April 27, competitors will attempt to smoke the meat of their choice to perfection in an all-day cooking competition on Saturday the 28th. Competitors will be judged on a 100-point scale in categories such as Presentation, Creativity, Composition of Ingredients, Preparation and Flavor.

"Smokin' TITAN is the perfect vehicle for this one-of-a-kind event and I can't wait to get out to Pigeon Forge," said Bahr, who is Food Network's "Chopped!" champion, among a laundry list of other accolades. "But have no doubt about it – David (Rose) and I will show no mercy when it comes to judging this competition. Only the best will be crowned the Great TITAN Meat Up champion!"

Nissan and barbecuing fans alike can follow along through the conclusion of The Great TITAN Meat Up on the @nissanUSATrucks Instagram and Facebook page, as well as by searching and utilizing the hashtags #SmokinTITAN and #TITANMeatUp.

Need help with 2007 Nissan quest

I just bought a 2007 Quest with 250k miles on it. It takes about a quart of power steering fluid a week to make it driveable.I took a look underneath the motor to see if I could find exactly where the leak was coming from and I noticed the power steering pump adjuster screw or bolt was broken but there is still tension on the belt. I've had this car about a month and a week ago it started making a sort of thumping sound or vibration that gets worst as the rpm's increase. Connected code reader and it's telling me I have a mixture in cylinder no. 2. My question is , does it sound like I might have a timing chain problem on top of everything else or could the vibration be caused by the broken adjuster bolt? I'm low on funds so a little advise would help me figure out the best way to go about fixing the problem and in what order.
Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.
