Knock Sensor Interchangeable?

I note with impending interest the option suggested for replacing the knock sensor in the Frontier (3.3L V-6 w/blower) with a knock sensor from a Maxima (presumably also with a 3.3L V-6). Since the knock sensor is a pretty generic device, and reports only a single voltage to the ECM, would not any knock sensor from any of Nissan's line of motors be interchangeable? Notwithstanding the electrical connector, perhaps?
