We have had a 2000 Frontier, Desert Runner 2WD for about 2 years. One caliper pin on each side is frozen solid -- won't move for anything. Brake brackets are cheap, but the ones we got for a 2000 Frontier did not fit AT ALL -- the threaded holes in the bracket were a different size and when installed with smaller bolts and bushings the bracket didn't clear the rotor.
I suspect it is the fact that it is a Desert Runner that is responsible. I understand that its suspension is beefier, but I am not finding much information about how this might have affected brake parts. Are these brakes normally used on a Frontier 4WD or an Xterra or what? Can anyone point me to a source for information? So far Google has come up dry.
Meanwhile we are resorting to extraordinary means to try and break loose the other pins. Even if we eventually succeed in solving the immediate problem, I sure would like to know what to look for the next time we need parts for brakes, suspension, or anything else where the Desert Runner is not really a Frontier.
