Well I bought a 97 Pathy with 185k miles last week. It runs perfectly but has a PO335 code and the CES light is on. I changed the Crank sensor but it's still throwing the code. When I was changing the sensor, I accidentally pulled out the wires on the connector, so I bought another one from the junkyard and spliced the wires together... everything seems right, but still I get that PO335 code. I heard that there are common ground problems with these cars, so I added a sub harness to the ground from the battery to the engine and also a separate one to the body... NO CHANGE... Still the same code... What's my next move?
Thanks for any help!
I also get a PO300 code after it runs for awhile. One more thing... The person I bought it from said she just had the waterpump and all of the belts replaced... I didn't think to ask if this meant the timing belt as well, but that would make sense if you're going in there. If that's the case, do you think the timing could be off a tooth or two? how could I check this out?
